 It's that time of year again- Summer- that gloriously prolific time of year that a jam maker knows is a limited time to capture and somehow contain as much of the variety of fruit that the season brings us. As romantic as it sounds it is sometimes a frantic chase, especially in the first weeks here in California where Apricots, Cherries & early Plums such as Santa Rosas are here and then BOOM they're gone!  This year is especially challenging due to the overwhelming drought here, where most of the country gets it's plethora of produce. Berries like Olallieberries (an increasingly rare once common berry for our area) Boysenberries and others ingredients like Rhubarb seem to be scarce or require lots more legwork in tracking down. The fun part so far has been visiting my favorite farms like Crystal Bay Farm and Casalegno Family Farm, harvesting peaches, plums and berries and trading jams for my customer's personal harvested abundance!

Come out and bring the kids, family or that special someone to Crystal Bay Farm Pumpkin Patch. For over 16 years Jeff and Lori Fiorvich have created a wonderful tradition for neighbors near and far. Not only are they one of the only you pick Organic Strawberry farms in Santa Cruz County, but by October they have grown harvested and gathered together over 40 different varieties of edible pumpkins and squash from every corner of the globe! I'm lucky enough to get to participate with my JamStand up stocked with goodies and many tasty samples! Jeannie's Artisan Jams is becoming a family favorite in these parts with my spicy pepper jellies, berry jams and crazy flavor combinations like vanilla Spiced Pear Butter, White Peach Lavender & Raspberry Rhubarb to name a just a few. Hello Jam Fans! For the past few months I've been working hard getting re-stocked with my handmade micro batches of delicious jams, jellies, marmalades and chutneys. So come out and visit my JamStand Saturdays & Sundays at the corner of Seabright Avenue & WIndham Street 11-6pm about a mile from the beautiful Seabright Beach and Natural History Museum. This Satuday I will have a professional face painter for the kids and many Sundays Eve from Bijou Beads will be selling her beautiful jewelry and crystal pieces. Local bread makers & gluten free bakers, are also invited to share there creations with the neighborhood and pair with my jams. See you there & don't forget your empty jars!
